Escape Rig: 2022 Ford F-150 XLT
Rolling down the Trans Labrador Highway in her There's a version of truck camping where you sacrifice comfort for capability. Becki Peckham's X1 isn't that. The Buffalo-based adventure filmmaker runs a fully heated, solar-powered setup on her 2022 F-150 — akaWayne — that's equally at home on a foggy Trans Labrador highway or parked somewhere quiet with all the flaps open and her dog asleep on a bed she swears is better than the one at home.
Q: What additions have you made to your rig?
I've got the Decked drawer system in the back and the camper i've kept modular so I can still use my truck for truck stuff (carrying sheet goods etc). I have MOLLE panels on the left and back with Helinox storage bags on the left, Anker Solix C1000 battery mounted to the rear above Tough Built drawers that can easily be removed when needed. For a camp kitchen I use a Snow Peak IGT that can be ran inside the camper or outside depending on the season. Truma heater mounted to the right. I have a Roam Adventure Co 270 passenger side awning mounted for extra living space.
I have a Merlin- 360 Watt Solar Panel mounted to the roof that feeds my Anker Solix C1000, Truma heater, Decked Drawers, Bug nets.

What's the best unexpected benefit of owning your X1?
Always have a place to nap no matter where you are and it doesn't leak.
What's your favorite thing about your setup?
The Truma Heater! I like traveling during shoulder seasons where it's nice during the day and chilly at night. Helps keep us and the dog comfortable all night and allows us to actually get good sleep. Makes traveling to colder climates stress free.
Favorite road snack?
Mrs Vickies Sweet Chili and Sour Cream chips and a Pepsi
What’s your favorite adventure you've taken?
My family and I did the Trans Labrador Highway in Oct 2025 and the conditions were bordering winter. Very foggy and rainy but it was made comfortable with the X1 + Awning and Walls. Always had a warm dry place to go.
What's do you love most about your rig?
The bed is more comfortable than mine at home, and I LOVE when the weather is good and we can open up all the flaps and sleep like the camper is a treehouse. Also no more ladder, game changer.
Any bucket list trips?:
I have a couple when it comes to Overlanding. I'd like to do the Trans Taiga Road in Quebec, and the haul up the Dempster to Tuktoyaktuk and cold plunge in the Arctic Ocean.
